The Annual Health Policy Invitational Meeting for the American Medical Informatics Association is taking place this week (September 21-22) in Washington D.C. This year's key note sessions include presentations from Dr. Robert M. Califf, Commissioner of Food and Drugs for the Food & Drug Administration, Dr. Patricia Flatley Brennan, Director of the National Library of Medicine, and Dr. Andrew B. Bindman, Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality. Additionally, Dr. Peter J. Embi, Interim Chair of Ohio State's Department of Biomedical Informatics and Chief Research Information Officer in the Wexner Medical Center, will help lead a panel discussion on ethics, informatics, policy, and education as well as provide opening remarks for the overall meeting.
This year's theme addresses the continued overlap between clinical research and clinical care as well as what potential changes need to be made to fully address both needs. All three keynote speakers bring a wealth of expertise and varying viewpoints to an important discussion.
